Manchester United, according to Glen Johnson, no longer have the pull to entice Declan Rice to Old Trafford.
Rice has recently established himself as one of the top defensive midfielders in the Premier League. The West Ham captain has continued his excellent form from last season, leading the team to a top-four finish this season.
For a long time, the Old Trafford side has battled in the centre of the park. Rice has emerged as a possible target for the Red Devils as a result of this.
Johnson, though, told BettingOdds.com that he believes United are currently behind in the English pecking order.
Johnson stated, "I don't think United could get anyone better than Declan Rice." "If he were available, I believe Chelsea or Liverpool would be first in line. Those players only appear once in a lifetime. United has [Donny] van de Beek or whoever it is, and they attempt to sign all of these players in that position for a lot of money, but it never works out."
The ex-Liverpool and Chelsea defender went on to say:
‘’To be honest with you, if I were Declan, I'd be a little concerned." United aren't the Manchester United of old, in my opinion. There was a time when you would go whenever they called. It was the most prominent location. Everyone was eager to attend. "I don't think he'd end up there whether they want him or not," she says. But, in terms of their business, I believe they should wait until the summer to assess the situation and consult with everyone."
At Manchester United, Scott McTominay is turning into a future leader.
Last night in the FA Cup, Scott McTominay scored the game's only goal against Aston Villa. In the first half, the Scottish midfielder scored a crucial goal for United.
After the game, United interim manager Ralf Rangnick praised McTominay's play, saying:
‘’He is an academy boy with incredible energy. He's now starting to score goals and displaying some leadership abilities. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the captain of this squad in a few years."
In 155 games with the Red Devils, McTominay has 16 goals and three helpers.
